Figural parrot brooches in cloisonne-style enamel are among the more expressive costume pieces of the 1970s and 80s.
A cast gold-tone brooch in the form of a parrot perched on a branch. The body is filled with vibrant enamel in blue, green, and red — the kind of dense, saturated colour that reads well from a distance. The beak and branch are plain polished gold-tone.
The piece is non-magnetic, which rules out cheap steel bases — this has weight and a solid feel to it.
Works well on a lapel or scarf, where the scale and colour earn it some room. It reads dressed-up without requiring an occasion — a wool coat, a plain navy jacket, a linen blazer. The 7 cm height means it stands out without overwhelming the wearer.
