Cream floral appliqué stands out against the blue-grey napped surface of this fold-over clutch.
A 1980s clutch by Barbara Maertens of Malvern, made in England. Cream edging traces the rectangular panels, framing a five-petal flower with two blue leaves and curving stems.
Contrast stitching outlines the petals and forms veins across the leaves. Five dark blue beads surround a pale central bead. The reverse is undecorated, with a zip opening and cream woven fabric lining inside.
The flat fold-over shape works held in the hand or tucked under the arm. Its blue-grey and cream palette sits well against a plain dress or tailored jacket.
