Vintage 1930s Cobalt Blue Beaded Drawstring Evening Bag Hand-Sewn Floral Pouch

Dense hand-sewn beadwork of this quality is increasingly difficult to find intact.

A small drawstring evening bag worked entirely in cobalt blue glass seed beads, with multicolour floral motifs in teal, terracotta, pink and green. The bag has no frame — it gathers at the top with a braided dark cord and closes with beaded ball tassels at the cord ends.

The hand-stitching is visible inside, and the weight of the beads gives it a satisfying density. This kind of piece was made to be used and admired, not locked away.

It holds a phone, cards, lipstick, and keys. The drawstring opening is generous enough for daily use. The dark cord wears well with evening black or with the deep blue of the bag itself — either looped over the wrist or carried in the hand.
