Orchid brooches at this scale are not common — and fewer still convert to a pendant as well.
A 1970s gold-tone piece in the form of a large orchid flower. The outer petals are filled with purple-violet enamel, divided by polished gold-tone ridges. The central labellum petal is left in satin brushed gold-tone, creating a deliberate contrast between colour and bare metal.
The reverse has both a bar pin with rollover safety catch and a pendant bail loop — so it wears equally well pinned to a lapel or hung on a chain.
The scale suits a coat lapel, a heavy-knit cardigan, or the collar of a winter jacket. Works best as a single focal point on heavier cloth rather than layered with other pieces.
