The "Hot" and "Cold" tap-handle design is a collector's favourite — a neat piece of mid-century plumbing humour that wears surprisingly well.
A pair of cross-shaped cufflinks in silver-tone metal, each face styled after a traditional water tap handle — the four-lobed crosshead form found on bathroom and kitchen fixtures of the era. The centre of each face carries a circular enamel insert: one reading "HOT", one "COLD", black lettering on a cream ground set in a silver-tone bezel.
The toggle-bar T-bar back is the standard mechanism for this period — secure fastening with no fiddly spring. Both toggles are fully functional.
These work best on a white or pale blue dress shirt where the cream enamel reads clearly against the cloth. The crosshead profile sits close to the cuff and doesn't snag on a jacket. The novelty is legible enough that people notice, but understated enough for an office setting. A good alternative to plain silver for someone who wants a talking point without anything loud.
