Vintage 1980s Gold-Filled Deep Purple Stone Cushion Cut Drop Earrings Lever Back

Gold-filled earrings with a stone this size and depth of colour are not something I find often.

A pair of 1980s drop earrings in gold-filled metal, each set with a large cushion-cut faceted stone in a deep, saturated purple. The bezel setting is smooth and well-finished. The lever-back closures are the hinged type that close securely — not the open-hook style that tends to snag.

The stones show a vivid violet-purple under any light, with a multi-faceted checkerboard-cut top that creates movement as the earrings move.

The drop length makes them visible at the ear without being oversized. They read as occasion pieces but sit comfortably enough for a long evening. Pairs well with a plain gold chain or worn alone as the sole jewellery. The warm rose-gold tone of the metal suits both warm and cool skin tones.
