The flat herringbone chain and openwork pendant are the kind of pairing that defined 1980s costume jewellery at its most considered.
A gold-tone necklace from the 1980s, with a flat snake-link chain approximately 38 cm in length. The centrepiece is an openwork abstract fan cluster in gold-tone metal with a round faceted red rhinestone suspended from the base in a prong setting.
The back of the pendant shows open construction — no lining, clean metalwork. The lobster claw clasp is fully functional.
Sits at collarbone length. The chain is flat enough to lie smoothly against the skin, and the pendant is small enough not to dominate an outfit. Works with a V-neck or scoop neckline, or over a light-coloured shirt where the red stone reads clearly.
