Black and clear rhinestone earrings in this open-frame floral dome format are harder to find than the plain clip-ons of the same period.
A 1980s pair of stud earrings in gold-tone metal, each formed as an openwork dome with four black faceted petals and a cluster of clear rhinestones — a round central stone, a rectangular baguette, and smaller round accents — set into the dome base.
The back is textured gold-tone with a post-and-butterfly fitting, meaning these are for pierced ears. The openwork frame gives the earring a lightness that solid dome versions lack.
At approximately 2 cm across, these sit neatly on the earlobe without pulling. The black-and-gold combination works with a tailored jacket or a plain black dress; the rhinestone detail catches the light without being distracting. They read as evening-capable but not exclusively so.
