Hand-painted wooden clip-ons in this loose brushstroke style are harder to find than the plain lacquered kind.
A pair of round disc earrings in wood, each face painted by hand with an expressive floral motif in blue, teal, green, and grey-black on a pale blue ground. The backs are dark-stained wood with silver-tone clip fittings. No two are identical — the paint application varies slightly between them, as hand work does.
The style and clip hardware point to the 1970s–80s, when large painted wooden earrings were widely worn as a lightweight alternative to metal.
The diameter is 4 cm — present without being heavy. They sit flat against the ear, which makes clip-ons of this type comfortable to wear for longer than smaller clip styles. The colour palette works well with navy, white, and earth tones.
