Long bar brooches with chain draping are uncommon — most of what survives from this period is small and florally obvious.
A gold-tone bar brooch in an architectural form: a knurled column top, a twisted-rope bar shaft, and three looping chains that sweep in a swag from top to base. The whole piece terminates in a faceted ball. The proportions are vertical and linear — 10 cm long, just 3 cm at the widest point of the chain arc.
The construction is solid. The finish is consistently bright with no patchiness, and the chains move freely with no kinking.
At 10 cm, this sits along a coat lapel, a scarf fold, or the placket of a shirt rather than at a collar. It works best pinned vertically — that is how it was designed to be worn. The scale suits a winter coat or structured jacket more than a blouse.
