Souvenir brooches from the Scottish islands are not often this three-dimensional.
A novelty pin from Shetland, Scotland, in gold-tone metal with a white enamel scroll reading "SHETLAND" in black lettering. Three dangling charms hang below: a silver-tone anchor, a gold-tone figural character, and a wheeled cart — a small tableau of island life and the sea.
The back carries a trombone-style roll-over pin. The piece is lightweight at 8 g — the charms move freely and catch the light.
Small enough to sit on a collar or jacket lapel without pulling the fabric. It reads as a collector's find rather than a fashion piece — suits a vintage-styled wardrobe or a display of Scottish memorabilia. The dangle charms give it movement, so it works best on still fabrics: wool, felt, denim.
