Vintage Marquetry Wood Inlay Jewellery Box Hexagonal Star Geometric Red Velvet

Marquetry boxes worked to this level of detail — alternating wood tones, bone-inlay borders, a geometric star at the centre — are not common as practical jewellery storage.

A small hexagonal box made entirely from inlaid wood in contrasting tones, with cream-coloured border inlay forming a triangle pattern around the lid. The centrepiece is a raised hexagonal panel with a multi-toned eight-pointed star in dark brown, tan, and orange-red. The sides carry striped wood banding. A small brass clasp closes the lid; the hinge is on the reverse.

Inside, both the lid and base are lined in red velvet. The compartment is sized for a ring, a pair of earrings, or a small brooch.

It works on a dressing table or a shelf — the geometric pattern reads well from a distance, and the small scale keeps it from dominating a surface. Pairs naturally with objects in natural materials: brass, leather, ceramic. Also works as a ring box for presenting a piece as a gift.
