Mother-of-pearl boxes built in this mosaic style are rarely found in such complete condition.
A jewellery box in the Art Deco manner, constructed from individually cut mother-of-pearl tiles — ivory, honey-amber, and pale blue — set into silver-tone metal framing. The lid presents a bold sunray fan pattern; the sides carry a geometric grid of rectangular tiles. The box opens on a central hinge to reveal a single oval interior lined in deep navy velvet.
The construction technique — leaded mother-of-pearl tiles in a geometric composition — belongs to a tradition of luxury decorative boxes popular from the Art Deco period onward. Each tile catches light differently, giving the exterior a soft iridescent shift.
On a dressing table or bedside chest, it reads as a display object as much as a functional piece. The interior fits rings, earrings, or small pendants with room to spare. The navy velvet lining sets off lighter metals and stones particularly well.
