A jewellery box in the Indian embossed metalwork tradition — the elephant motifs and geometric border work are characteristic of this craft.
A large jewellery box sheathed in silver-tone embossed metal over a wooden core, with repoussé panels featuring elephant cartouches and a densely worked paisley and floral border. Made in India, likely 1970s–1980s.
The interior is lined in deep blue velvet and fitted out practically: a mirror on the inside lid, two hinged display frames, a cylindrical ring roll, and open compartment space for necklaces and bracelets. A working lock with its original key is included.
The box is large enough to hold a full collection, and deep enough for longer necklaces. It sits well on a dressing table or bedside surface. The embossed exterior reads as decor in its own right — it doesn't need to be tucked away.
