Screw-back drop earrings like these were the standard for piercing-free ears in the mid-century decades.
A silver-tone dangle earring pair from the 1950s–1960s, with an open-work crown-shaped body set with small faceted rhinestones throughout and two larger aurora-borealis crystal stones at the top of each piece.
The AB stones catch the light with a blue-violet iridescence — a signature finish of the mid-century period, when iridescent coatings were widely used on costume rhinestones.
The scale is modest — 4 cm drop — so they work as well with a daytime blouse as with an evening dress. The screw mechanism adjusts to fit any ear. A good choice for someone who finds clip-ons too heavy or uncomfortable.
