Bethlehem mother-of-pearl shell crucifixes are among the most recognisable devotional crafts of the Holy Land tradition.
A wall crucifix in carved wood with real mother-of-pearl shell tiles inlaid across the face, framed by a scalloped carved bone or shell border. A dark metal corpus is mounted at the centre. The back is carved wood with repeating circular medallion motifs and bears the mark "Bethlehem" — consistent with the Palestinian Christian artisan tradition that has produced these pieces for export since the mid-twentieth century.
The shell catches light softly, shifting between cream, blush, and pale green depending on the angle.
Hang it on a wall as a devotional object or as part of a collected arrangement of religious or folk-craft pieces. The scale — 14 × 5 cm — is modest enough for a bedside alcove, a shelf niche, or a grouping with other small devotional objects. It reads quietly rather than imposing.
