Inlaid wooden jewellery boxes of this kind are increasingly hard to find in good condition.
A mid-century wooden jewellery box with a geometric inlay pattern on the lid — contrasting tones of dark and light wood set in an octagonal cartouche with a foliate border, all framed by a fine striped inlay surround. The construction is solid and the hinge works cleanly.
Inside, two open compartments separated by a central divider, with bare wood interior. No lining, no lock — this is a craftsman's piece, not a commercial production item.
Works well on a dressing table or nightstand where the lid pattern can be seen from above. Suited to holding rings, small earrings, cufflinks, or a few folded notes. The scale is practical rather than decorative-only — it fits a handful of everyday pieces without taking up too much surface space. Pairs naturally with other natural materials: leather, ceramic, stone.
